Gretel Bakker & Dr. Chris Rowell

After 24 years of pioneering change in leadership and organisational development, Performance Frontiers marks a significant milestone as Founder and Managing Director Gretel Bakker hands over the Managing Director role to move into a newly created role as Research, Impact and Innovation Director.

Under Gretel’s leadership, the company has evolved from a small team with a bold vision into an industry leader, committed to shaping conscious, forward-thinking organisations that create positive and generative change. Her impact is embedded in every facet of the business, making this transition both a moment of reflection and an exciting new chapter. As she transitions to her new role, she’s looking forward to having more time to spend with her clients and to innovatively shape the next horizon of leadership development at Performance Frontiers. Gretel shared:

“Over two decades ago, I embarked on a journey fuelled by passion, conviction, and the hope of building something truly meaningful. I was enthusiastic about creating a more sustainable way of being within organisations, challenging and reshaping the paradigms of our thinking, beliefs, and behaviours. What began as an idea soon became a living, breathing entity—shaped not only by my vision but by the extraordinary people who joined me along the way.”

“This work has been more than a profession, it’s been a calling. The challenges, the breakthroughs, the moments of doubt, and the moments of triumph have all been part of a story I will forever cherish. But more than anything, it is the people; the brilliant minds, the unwavering hearts, the shared laughter, and the collective determination of the team who turned the vision into reality, and our partners within organisations who believed in the impossible and gave purpose to every step we took. They have made this journey and the impact we have created so profoundly fulfilling.”

Welcoming the New Managing Director: Dr. Chris Rowell

As Performance Frontiers embarks on its next phase, Dr. Chris Rowell has been appointed as Managing Director, with the full support of Gretel.

“Now, the time has come for a new chapter. With immense pride and deep trust, I pass the Managing Director role of Performance Frontiers to Dr. Chris Rowell. Chris is not only a remarkable leader but a steward of vision and values, whose wisdom and integrity will guide Performance Frontiers into its next era of impact and growth.”

Chris has been an integral part of the Performance Frontiers leadership team for the past four years, playing a pivotal role in shaping the company’s strategy, vision, and culture. His deep expertise and commitment to driving meaningful change position him strongly to lead the company into the future.

“I am truly honoured to step into the role of Managing Director at Performance Frontiers. When I first joined the business four years ago, I told Gretel that as long as I was learning, growing, and finding joy in the people around me, I could see myself here for the long haul. I don’t think I fully grasped then just how true that would be but it’s as true today as ever, and I can’t imagine that changing.

Performance Frontiers is one of a kind; an organisation with a rich legacy built on trust, creativity, expertise, and enduring partnerships. I’m incredibly grateful to Gretel; not just for her leadership for more than two decades, but for the work she continues to do and for the opportunity to continue to collaborate closely with her as a friend, mentor, and colleague. I’m also grateful to our incredible team, a wonderful group of people whose talent, care, and shared commitment to excellence make this studio what it is today.”

With this important work, she will ensure Performance Frontiers remains at the forefront of transformational learning and thought leadership.
