Effective communication and influencing works just like these synchronised metronomes.
Each of metronomes begins by swinging to its own beat. With no point of connection, they swing independently and never swing in alignment.
When the metronomes are anchored to the same platform and are openly connected, they are able to find balance and synergy. Each metronome influences the movement of the platform, communicating direction, negotiating space, adjusting and aligning until all of the metronomes are synchronised.
To effectively communicate and influence, we must connect with all of our stakeholders on the same level. We must stay open and mutually influence and exchange ideas to find balance and win/win solutions. Only then can we move forward in synergy.
